By noon Thursday, the City of Newburgh, Middletown, Goshen, and Monroe had all advised residents that parking on-street was off limits during the emergency to allow for street plowing.

Vehicles can be towed during an emergency, but most police departments said they would try to locate the owner before towing.

In Newburgh, cars must be parked on either the North or East sides of the street until 6 p.m. All 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. restrictions still apply.

Most towns have codes that call for no parking during heavy snow storms to allow for plowing.

Residents unsure if their areas are under a parking restriction should check their government website.
